                      "Why I Need the Knowledge of English”. 

It is almost impossible to imagine our life without the English language. It can be heard everywhere even in Russia – in the streets, on the radio, on TV, at school and in other places.

Nowadays 750.000 million people all over the world use English and half of them speak it as a mother tongue. It is the richest of all the 2.700 world languages. English has vocabulary of about 500.000 words.

At the end of the 20^th century English is more widely spoken and written than any other language has ever been. It has become the language of the planet, the first truly global language. Three quarters of the world’s mail and other information are in English.

English is the main language of business and the Internet. It is also the language of sports, the official language of the Olympic games. English has become the language of international communication.

A lot of people choose English as the second language to study. I’ve chosen English to study too. English helps us to speak to the people of foreign countries. It connects people and makes peace between different nations.

English can be used in my future career and my future life. Everybody who learns English has perspectives. There are some perspectives for young people in Alexandrov too. We can work in the museums of our hometown. A lot of tourists, who visit Alexandrov’s places of interest speak English and we can help them to learn more about our place if we speak English.

Some years ago people of our received guests from many different countries of the world. It happened because we were having an International Festival that time. It was very interesting for us to communicate with our guests, and the language of communication was English. All of the youngsters understood the importance of the knowledge of English then.

As for me – I’m sure, that it is impossible be a part of the modern world without knowing of this language. We need it to travel, to make friends with foreign teenagers, to use the Internet and to find a good job in the future.
